It is essentially tying different strings of material together using various knots. The book goes over all the basics and how to get started with macrame including the different knots and techniques, the tools and materials needed, tips to get the knots right, trouble shooting and of course some project ideas. I like that when the author describes how to do the knots she uses pictures as well. I know for me I need a combination of written instructions and visual aids so this is perfect! The same with the projects, there are written instructions, a list of materials needed and pictures to help show the progression. I just love the plant hangers and the heart key chain. Macrame is a beautiful craft of tying knots in cord, rope, twine or leather etc. This book has illustrated pictures with easy to follow instructions. The patterns realyl come alive when you use color. I am still learning. There are 2 projects I'd like make : the Serenity Bracelet for my niece and the Macrame Curtain. Also detailed references to crochet and knitting needles and yarn!! Seems to have been copied from some other source and not edited at all. Otherwise pretty basic. The photos are very small.
